Kevin’s Story

“A Beautiful Life came to an end.  He died as he lived, Everyone’s Friend…”

Kevin O’Malley’s joy for life, love for people, and boundless potential was stolen from the world when he was murdered at age 25 in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago on May 30, 2015.   Whether he was organizing spontaneous road trips and get-togethers with his twin and friends, planning a surprise for his girlfriend, having dinner with his family, texting “I love you” to his mom, chatting with his dad on his way home from work, or babysitting his nephews, Kevin’s care for his family and friends and his passion for life made him special to everyone who knew him. Just as he always had fun and made time for the people in his life, Kevin also worked hard. After graduating from the University of Iowa in 2012, he passed the rigorous CPA exam within months. He also held the CFE designation.

Kevin’s horrific death leaves a gaping hole in the hearts of everyone who loves him. By setting up a scholarship fund in his name, we hope something positive can come from this tragedy. Kevin always encouraged others to strive for their goals, and a scholarship fund is one way to fulfill his vision.

All proceeds raised will be contributed to a scholarship fund in Kevin’s name at the University of Iowa in Accounting.  Also, you can donate directly to Kevin O’Malley Memorial Scholarship in Accounting at the University of Iowa which is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt plan.  Our goal is to raise $50,000 for an endowed scholarship in Kevin’s name.
